Dr. Paula De La Rotta,Psy.D., LHM.

Dr. Paula De La Rotta-Perez, also known as Dr. Pau, is a pediatric neuropsychologist and neurorehabilitator and the founder of Neurokids Center and the @Dr. PauComparte community on social media, where she shares evidence-based information about child development, neuropsychology, and parenting. Her passion for understanding how children think, learn, and develop has guided her career in pediatric neuropsychology.

Dr. De La Rotta completed her undergraduate studies at Florida International University (FIU), followed by two master’s degrees in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health Counseling, and a doctorate in Clinical Psychology with emphasis in Child Neuropsychology from Albizu University in Miami, Florida.

Dr. De La Rotta-Perez completed her doctoral residency in pediatric psychology at Children’s Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She later completed a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship in Pediatric Neuropsychology and Rehabilitation at New York University Langone Medical Center – Rusk Rehabilitation, where she refined her specialization in assessing and supporting children with diverse developmental and neurological disorders.

Experience

Dr. De La Rotta-Perez has dedicated more than 10 years to clinical practice, consultation, and research, with a strong focus on how medical conditions impact neurodevelopment and pediatric brain injury.

More recently, Dr. De La Rotta-Perez served as a Clinical Pediatric Assistant Professor and Director of Assessment for the Psychological Evaluation Service (PAS) at the University of Miami - Mailman Center for Child Development, where she oversaw neuropsychological and psychological evaluations and contributed to the development of high-quality clinical assessment services.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. De La Rotta-Perez has a deep passion for research. She collaborates as a researcher with the University of Miami on multiple studies, including research examining biomarkers of brain injury in children and adolescents, as well as a separate study focused on pediatric Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI).

Outside of her professional work, she is a proud mother and wife, a dog lover, and enjoys water sports, fashion, and traveling.

Events & Conferences

Dr. De La Rotta has served as a speaker at various national and international conferences, including the National Academy of Neuropsychology (NAN), the American Psychological Association (APA), and the International Neuropsychological Society (INS). She has appeared as a guest on multiple television programs serving the Hispanic community, where she discusses key pediatric neuropsychology topics and provides expert guidance to families.

Dr. De La Rotta has published multiple research papers and authored several book chapters within the field of neuropsychology. She has also been invited to collaborate as part of the research committee for the Ibero-American Neuropsychology Congress.
